Hey everyone. I have a Lexmark printer that is all touch screen. The frustrating thing is it doesn't talk. And today, some problem came up with it and it played the error tone and I had to have sighted assistance to read the display. Fortunatly, its nothing major. But it would be nice if the thing talked so that someone who is blind can use the pannel and all the features without sighted assistance. Granted, I can use the software through the computer but as far as checking the ink levels on the computer, that part is not accessible with Jaws or NVDA. So does anyone know of any accessible printers that talk?

Don't know any that talk alone, but HP, Canon, Epson have printers that are accessible through your screen reader in their programs. Many also have buttons on them so you can label them and know what they do. The more expensive have features as far as ink levels and such things. HP's Office series comes to mind, but they are on the expensive side. You'll know when your printers out of ink most tell you, so to keep this from being an issue just keep extra around. Open book, and other programs help with the scanning section. Dell's are good as well, as far as being monitorable with your screen reader.
